ChatGPT Ads measurement kit

Advertising opened inside ChatGPT across Europe on 24 August 2026. Advertiser sign-up is free, but serving waits on a business verification and an account review. That delay is exactly the time it takes to wire up measurement, and it is what the American launch got wrong.

This kit produces the code, the naming convention and the checks to run before your first campaign. Nothing is sent anywhere: everything is computed in your browser.

What this kit does not do It does not scan your site remotely. It works on what you paste. An application firewall, bot protection or caching module can behave differently from what your files suggest.

1. Your tagging plan

Enter your pixel id, your consent platform and the conversions you track. The generated code goes in the head of every page.

Conversions tracked

The consent trap The pixel starts collecting by default. If you paste the official script without holding it before initialisation, you collect before consent. That is why this generator places the guard first, not as an option.

2. Your link convention

Ads Manager exports its results as CSV. Without a stable naming convention you will not be able to reconcile that export with what your analytics tool sees.

3. Do your robots let the platform through?

Two agents must reach your pages: the one validating ads and assessing relevance, and the one exploring content. Blocked, your ads are invalidated without an obvious reason. Many sites added blanket rules against AI crawlers in 2024 and never revisited them.

4. Does your security policy let the script load?

Three directives are involved, not one, and this is the most common mistake: script-src to load the script, connect-src to fetch the pixel configuration and transmit conversions, img-src for the image-request fallback. One directive missed and your dashboard reports zero conversions on campaigns that produce them. If your counter reads zero rather than merely low, look here first.

5. The list to run before your first campaign

Point Why it costs you
Country, currency and time zone Final at account creation. A mistake means starting a new account, with a new email address
One event per conversion campaign The choice is locked at creation. Decide first, and make sure the event already exists cleanly
Budget It is a total spending cap, not a pacing control. A poorly bounded campaign burns through it fast
Attribution delay Attributed conversions take 24 to 48 hours to appear. Do not judge anything on day one
View-through Reported separately, with no effect on cost per acquisition or bidding. Do not add it to the rest
Your category Dating, alcohol, tobacco, gambling, politics and weapons are prohibited. Health, health insurance, credit and financial advice are reviewed case by case
Deduplication If you also send conversions from your server, the same event identifier must travel on both sides

Current as of 24 August 2026

Ads Manager is in beta and its settings will move. This page is dated and reviewed monthly, like our other resources. If you find a gap between what it says and what you see in your account, tell us: that is how it stays useful.

For the full reasoning behind these checks, read the article: ads have arrived in ChatGPT, and buying them is not the urgent part. If conversion tracking is already fragile on your current channels, let’s talk before you add another one.
